Is the Carnivore Diet right for you?

Hearing more people talking about the Carnivore Diet recently, thanks mainly to Joe Rogan. People talking about how they’ve cured their own auto-immune issues and lost heaps of fat by eating JUST MEAT.

As always, two sides talking: one side thinks the diet legitimately is something special (its really not, its just an extreme version of something that lots of people already do) and the other side thinking it makes no sense and it’ll kill you (it probably won’t kill you, but it’s not the best choice you can make long-term)
.

So what is the diet? Its just a high-fat, high-protein elimination diet. Nothing special. It’s just choosing to act as an elimination diet IN THE MOST EXTREME WAY by limiting your food to just meat, and more specifically JUST BEEF. People in the Carnivore Diet Community tend to see eating JUST beef as the ‘top level’ of the carnivore diet, with the less restrictive option being to use other meats too.

High-fat High Protein isn’t new, but by limiting fats to the ones FOUND IN THE MEAT it’s easy to eat relatively few calories because you’re always kept full and steak isn’t a binge food. So you lose weight because you eat less calories. Well done to you.

And like any good elimination diet, this diet will help with auto-immune issues if those issues are being caused by a common problem food like Wheat / Broccoli / Grains / etc OR by harmful gut bacteria which feed on carbohydrates / fibre OR by basically anything else you were ingesting that isn’t beef..

If your body is constantly having an immune response because you’ve developed an intolerance for a specific food or food additive which you keep eating OR you’ve stuffed up your gut microbiome and have an overgrowth of little buggers who ferment sugars / fibre and so now you’ve got auto-immune issues obviously REMOVING THAT FOOD AND STARVING THAT BACTERIA is going to help fix the issue. Does that mean the smart thing to do is to just REMOVE EVERY FOOD?
